Traditional Base Camp
This typically 3-week trek follows the classic approach to
Sagarmantha (Everest). It starts with a 7-hour drive to Jiri
on the border of Solu-Khumbhu. The route passes through the Sherpa
villages of Solu-Khumbhu over several challenging passes and
through beautiful forests and farming country.
Once past Lukla we climb to Namche, the main trading village
of the Khumbu, where time is spent acclimatizing before continuing
via Thyangboche monastery to Pheriche, Lobuche and early morning
ascent of Kala Patthar (55,544 m) overlooking the base camp area
and offering super views of Everest, Lhootse, Nuptse and Makalu.
Our return to Kathmandu is via STOL aircraft.
