Milke Danda Ridge
For those who have neither the time nor the wish to penetrate
the hills and valleys of eastern Nepal as far as the Makalu and
Kanchenjunga base camps, the Milke Danda Ridge provides an excellent
alternative. Trekking to altitudes of up to 4,473 m the route
passes through Rai and Limbu villages, fine forests and high
open grazing areas. Outstanding mountain views in the autumn
and winter are complemented by wonderful flowers and rhododendron
forests in bloom during the spring.
The return route descends west down the Ridge via Chainpur,
famous for its brassware, into the Arun River Valley and ascending
the trade route back, via Pakrinbas to end at Hille. This route
is ideal for a short treks between 13 and 17 days.
