Ganesh Himal
Two major rivers, the Dorandi and Buri Gandakin carve their
way approximately north-south through this area. Lying to the
north east of the Buri Gandakin is Ganesh Himal. Paldor, a trekking
/ alpine peak (5894 m) lies to the south east of Ganesh Himal
leading down to the Tiru Danda Ridge.
In the spring the rhododendron forests here are a blaze of
colour. It is possible to include this area with a trek across
the better known areas of Langtan, Gosainkunda and the Helambu
villages lying to the east of the Trisuli river. Alternatively,
the Tiru ridge can be followed all the west-south to Trishuli
- one of Nepal's finest ridge walks. Treks in the Ganesh Himal
area usually run for between 15 and 20 days.
