Jugal Himal Area
The Jugal Himal is a group of mountains north-east of Kathmandu.
These include peaks such as Dorje Lakpa (6,980 m). Gyalzen (6,705
m) and Phurbi Ghyanchy (6,722 m). It lies to the east of Helambu
and is bordered on the north and east by Tibet.
The area immediately to the south of these mountains offers
a complete cross section of all that is best about a Nepal's
high altitude Himalayan vistas, sacred lakes, holy shrines, isolated
Sherpa and Tamang villages, together with untouched forest and
total remoteness from the other more popular trekking routes.
Jugal Himal is suitable for all seasons but probably is at
its best in the autumn or spring (late April to May) for Himalayan
flowers and is one of the few areas that still offers true wilderness
treks. Being within easy reach of Kathmandu this is an excellent
area for fourteen day treks but can be as short as 8 days or
extended up to 22 days.
