Grades of Trek
Grade 1: Trekking in altitudes
less than 3000 meters, but involving considerable up and down-hill
walking on mountain trails for 5-6 hours a day.
Grade 2: Moderate trekking
to altitudes between 2000 - 3000 meters, possibly Including brief
excursions or pass crossings of up to about 4500 meters.
Grade 3: Moderate trekking
to altitudes of 3000 - 4000 meters, generally including strenuous
excursions or pass crossings of up to 5500 meters.
Grade 4: Rigorous trekking
to altitudes predominantly above 4000 meters, with excursions,
pass crossings or peak climbing. Elementary knowledge of the
use of crampons and ice axe is desirable. Some climbing experience
may be required for peak climbing.
