This temple stands on the hillock of Dhaulagiri to the north of Bhaktapur at an altitude of 5,000 feet above sea level and is one of the oldest temples in Nepal. It has distinct historical and architectural significance.

The Ratna Jatra which starts on the third monday of Vaisakh is the main jatra of this temple. On other occasions devotees also congregate here.
