Taleju Temple, Kathmandu

Return

The Taleju Temple is a fine example of the world famous pagoda style architecture, which is located close to the Hanuman Dhoka. The sheer magnificence of its size can only be matched by the Nyatapola Temple of Bhaktapur.

It is dedicated to the goddess Taleju Bhawani, the family deity of the Kings of Nepal. The image of Taleju Bhawani was brought from Bhaktapur and set up in Kathmandu. The temple stands over 120 ft. high and is the tallest of all the temples in the Hanuman Dhoka precincts.
