The Panchase Lekh Route This is a four to 5 day Pokhara-based walk. The route lies along the heavily forested ridges to the south of Phewa Tal (the second largest lake in Nepal) involving higher attitudes (1500-2100 m) than on the Pokhara Valley trail. This route is best enjoyed between mid-November and mid-May. The views north to Dhaulagiri and the Annapurna and east to Manaslu and Himalchuli are exceptionally good but will be affected by spring haze from about mid-March onwards. The Pokhara valley itself gets quite hot in the late spring but temperatures on much of this route should remain pleasant. In the spring the abundant bird life and spring flowers including Himalayan rhododendrons and giant white magnolias add to the interest. This trip can optionally conclude with a boat trip from the east end of Phewa Tal back to Pokhara. |
