Tibetan Thankas Thankas are hand painted on stretched canvass and usually take a month or more for one artist to complete. They vary in size, complexity, the amount of gold paint used in the design and typically follow a theme such as the 'wheel of life' or buddha. Most can be rolled up which makes shipping easier. They vary in price from one supplier to another but a small unframed thanka measuring around 1 by 1.5 feet comprising a simpler design with some gold paint may set you back between 25 and 50 GB Pounds. For the more usual examples (unframed with a reasonably complex design and a reasonable amount of gold paint) you can expect to pay from around 180 GB Pounds for one measuring 2 feet by 3 feet up to 2,700 GB Pounds for a top of the line example measuring 4 by 5 feet in size. The cost of patterned cloth frames is 20 GB Pounds for polyester material and 25 GB Pounds for hand woven raw silk. Further details can be found in the e-bazaar. If you would like a more precise quote, let us know what size and whether you're looking for a budget, standard or top of the line selection and what sort of frame you'd like and whether you's like a theme such as Buddha or Mondela or Wheel of Life. We can send you a selection of pictures plus prices. If you want the Thanka(s) shipped to your country, please also state the destination for delivery and whether you'd like the consigment to go by sea (cheapest, takes 7-9 weeks) by air (more expensive & 2-3 weeks) or courrier (most expensive, takes around 1 week).
