Musical Instruments

Featured on the right is the four string Nepali Guitar which is held upright around the neck with one hand played and played with bamboo bow in the other. It has a half-leather, half open echo chamber behind the strings and some (such as the example illustrated) are intricately carved.

Whether you fancy your hand playing one of these or a Llama's horn or tibetan bells or singing bowls or simply go for them aesthetically, these musical instruments are widely available in Nepal. The guitar in particular makes an amazing sound - click the guitar for an MP3 sound clip of it in action.

Further examples can be heard at the music section in this site and a wide selection of instruments can be viewed at Potala Craft Corner, also online.
