Domestic flights are a highly convenient, quick way of getting
around Nepal and offer views you can't get travelling any other
way. From Kathmandu to Pokhara, for example, takes only 25 minutes.
Most domestic flights operate between all weather airports although
if you're off trekking or climbing in the remoter parts of Nepal,
you may have to fly by STOL aircraft on some short, seasonal
airstrips. For details on which routes are scheduled, which are
seasonal and which are chartered, see Air Routes below. For details
on scheduled flights between all weather airports, see Flight
Schedules below.
Although they are the most expensive airlines, we believe
that Mountain Air and Buddha Air are the two best options, with
very modern aircraft and excellent safety / reliability records.
A single adult fare for flying Mountain Air from Kathmandu to
Pokhara costs around 65-70 US dollars. If price is the only consideration,
you can shave a few bucks off the cost by using another airline
- if you really want to.
