Origins
The Digital Bridge Project began in 1999 following
a conversation at the Caffè Concerto in Pokhara, Nepal,
between Gopal Bhusal and Charles Malcolm-Brown.
The topic was on what could be done
to help Nepal and its tourism sector which had suffered following
some unkind remarks by an Indian actor.
The discussion turned to the possibilities
of tapping into the emerging online travel markets and transferring
the knowledge and skills necessary for hotels, tour operators,
airlines, handicraft exporters etc. to deal directly with customers
in Europe, North America, the Indian Sub-Continent and other
parts of the English speaking world.That was the idea. Within
