Where the path traversed a stile, a gateway constructed of leaves and flowers adorned with a banner welcomed us to the school. As we passed through into a shaded wood, students lined up both sides and presented each member of the team with flowers and sacred garlands. A little further on, we reached the school buildings and took our places in the courtyard as the audience assembled and the day's programme got under way.

The programme included several folk songs and dances, beautifully performed by students in traditional costume. It was punctuated with speeches given by school officials and some of the project team members. In particular, addresses given by Yogendra Thapa and Hari Poudel were well received. Charles and Natasha Malcolm-Brown also spoke briefly - with Gopal Bhusal kindly translating on Charles's behalf. Colleagues present included Biplab Poudel, Monica Gentile and Melanie Malcolm-Brown.
