powder and the sacrifice of goats and ducks are the customary
ways of praising the heroic victory of Ram over the evil King
Rawan in the Ramayan epic.
At this time, devotees must also pay homage to the Mother
Goddess, Durga as the source of all power and of the powers which
enabled Ram to achieve his victory.
