One of the few remaining stretches of natural jungle remaining in Asia, Chitwan boasts a wealth of rare species. There are many endangered one-horned rhinos to be seen, along with Marsh crocodiles, gaur, Sambar deer, elephants, marsh muggers, gharials, kingfishers, peacocks and wild boar - to name just a few. There are also around 100 pairs of Bengal Tigers in the park. Although they are naturally elusive, some visitors are lucky enough to spot one for themselves.
