Kathmandu

Touring and trekking in Nepal take place throughout
the year in Nepal (although some of the more remote areas may
be impassable at certain times). There are four distinct seasons
in Nepal - each with particular attractions to offer. |

Autumn
 |
The Autumn season runs from September to November.
In general, the weather is excellent and visitors can enjoy tantalising
views of the Himalayan peaks. |

Winter
 |
During the Winter season (from December to February)
we get occasional snowfalls at higher altitudes so the ideal
trekking at this time of year is at lower elevations (generally
below 3000 meters). |

Spring
 |
From March to May, wild flowers decorate the
hillsides. Above 5000 metres, you can walk through fields of
flowering rhodedendrons, flourishing in their natural habitat.
At lower elevations, the temperatures are temperate and higher
up, above 4000 meters, the climate is quite moderate with excellent
mountain views. |

Summer
 |
The Summer months between June and August mark
the monsoon season which usually ends by mid-September, followed
by warm and humid weather. The monsoons turn the countryside
a lush mid-green and the rivers run fast from the mountains through
deep stone gorges. The Summer months are not ideal for trekking
but for visitors with an interest in botany or ornithology, the
higher valleys and meadows are in full bloom and bursting with
rare species. |
